Nelson C. and Betty D. Borchers Nature Preserve
Located at the intersection of County Road 25A and Michaels Road, The Nelson C. and Betty D. Borchers Nature Preserve was acquired in 2004 through a generous donation of ten acres of land from long time Monroe Township residents Nelson and Betty Borchers. This preserve, zoned as a Conservation District, has been re-graded to include a stormwater detention basin and improved roadside ditches in order to reduce flooding problems encountered at this intersection in the past. The area has been planted in grasses and over the next few years, the preserve will be developed into a complete nature preserve with trees and the possibility of walking trails.
Deerdale Park
Monroe Township received three acres of green space set-aside when the Deercliff Subdivision was developed in 1978. The Deerdale Park has been improved with the addition of a tennis court, basketball court and playground equipment by Monroe Township for the enjoyment of park visitors. This park is located on Virginia Drive (off Tipp Cowlesville Road) in the Deercliff Subdivision.

Open Space at the Michaels Road Maintenance Facility
There are about eleven acres of open space located behind the Monroe Township Maintenance Facility at 655 Michaels Road where it is possible to play neighborhood soccer or baseball games. There is also a basketball court available for public use. |
