There are several recycle programs available for their
use by Monroe Township residents. A recycle program is operated
by Monroe Township. Miami County operates both a recycle
program and a scrap tire management program. Information
about all these programs is provided below.

| Aluminum Beverage Cans |
- Cans must be rinsed and free of contaminants.
- Flattening of cans is optional but does make them
easier to handle.
- The beverage cans must be removed from any plastic
bags or other containers.

| Cardboard |
- Corrugated and package cardboard such as cereal,
cracker, soap boxes, etc.
- Cardboard must be clean, dry and flattened.
- Paper/plastic box liners should be removed.
|
| Food Containers/Steel |
- Soup, vegetable, fruit, etc. steel food cans.
- Cans must be rinsed and free of contaminants.
- For safety reasons discard the opened lid.
- Must have can labels removed.
- Flattening of steel food cans is optional
|
| Glass |
- Food and beverage containers – all colors.
- Containers must be rinsed and free of contaminants.
- Containers do not need to be sorted into colors.
- Paper labels and lids may remain on the containers.

| Newspapers |
- Newsprint must be put into paper grocery bags; do
not put into plastic bags.
- Newspaper ad slicks are acceptable.

| Plastic Containers |
- 2-liter soft drink bottles; milk, water and juice
containers; detergent bottles; fabric softener bottles;
egg cartons; laundry soap bottles; etc.
- Containers must have SPI Code 1 or 2 on container
bottom.
- Containers must be rinsed and free of contaminants.
- Paper labels and lids may remain on the containers.

| The Miami County Transfer Station will accept passenger vehicle tires, truck tires and farm tires on a regular basis. In addition to the tipping fee, a per tire fee is assessed. The current fees are $3.00 per passenger tire, $6.00 per truck tire and $20 for all farm tires. All tires are separated and placed in a container owned by a contracted provider located outside the Transfer Station at 2200 North County Road 25A, Troy, Ohio. |
